Waiting for the frame jig to be sorted at least gave me time to sort out other tools I was going to need. Here are a couple of bars turned down to the internal diameter of the head and seat tubes. They were made from some black mid steel that was to hand so they’re going to rust like a Vauxhall Viva.

I made up a bath to treat the steel.

After 2 minutes here is the result. It's very much a surface protection, but hopefully, with a bit of oiling, they'll survive longer than the aforementioned car. They also chime the classiest 2 tone door bell ring I ever heard.
